SYMBOLS OF THE GODDESS
a TEMPLE space for the Soul | a four-part womb circle offering
“Your period is a monthly occurrence in your life that you have in common with all women who have ever lived.”

Exploring Sacred Symbols in connect to Menstruation
Over the course of four offerings, we will gather to honour four ancient symbols intimately connected with menstruation and the Goddess, exploring the Feminine and her powerful energy of creation, blessing—Shakti.
Each circle will be an exploration of ritual, movement, expression, contemplation, stillness, and prayer, while connecting to one of the symbols, all held in ceremony and Love.
A blessing to the sacred mysteries of our blood. An invitation to be in conversation about our own journey with our menstrual cycle, the cyclical flow of your body and womb space.
The Four Symbols we will honour as part of TEMPLE
-
The 'Mother of the Universe,' as the Ancient Egyptians called the Moon.
The moon, with her cyclical ebb and flow, pulls at the ocean's currents, mirroring the rhythm of our own inner waters. A woman's menstrual cycle can often align with her, for the moon governs the night and the waters, embodying feminine mysteries. She is dreamy, emotional, inspiring, sensitive, radiant, and secretive—her energy gently guiding us into varying states of awareness and power.
-
Blood is the pulsation of life. Each month, women bleed and yet do not die, for within our blood lies mystery and magic—the very symbol of life’s force. Across many cultures and traditions, menstrual blood is revered as sacred.
Let us lean into honouring the menstrual blood as a symbol of life, power, and renewal.
-
Mother Earth, the Great Goddess herself, provides us with endless nourishment and resources, making life here on Earth possible and abundant. She offers so much, asking nothing in return. Yet, she is our mother, our home, and we must remember that we are part of her—woven into nature itself. We came from the Earth, and to her, our bones will one day return.
Just as our menstrual blood is sacred and our womb a home in many senses, so too is our Great Mother Earth. For we must tend to and listen to her—with our hearts, minds, and wombs. Honouring the womb of the earth.
-
The snake embodies the power of transformation, shedding its skin to symbolise change. In the same way, we too undergo a journey of death and rebirth each month—transforming and renewing with every cycle. The snake symbolises renewal, and as bleeding womb-folk, we are offered a similar cycle: death, birth, and life.
Women and snake share a pattern of cyclical shedding. Each time we shed the lining of the womb during menstruation, we also encounter a form of death, follow by a rebirth and new cycle.
